No unbelief or distrust made him waver (doubtingly question) concerning the promise of God, but he grew strong and was empowered by faith as he gave praise and glory to God.Romans 4:20 AMPC |
There is a lot of spiritual meat for us in Romans 4:20. Let’s break it down. This verse is speaking of Abraham.
It says no unbelief or distrust made him waver (doubtingly question) concerning the promise of God. Obviously, for us to be told this means that Abraham was faced with (just as we are) thoughts of unbelief, distrust and doubting questions concerning the promises of God. Abraham had to (just like we do) choose to push doubting thoughts away and praise God for His love, promises and faithfulness to bring them to pass in our lives.
God loves us so much that He designed for us to be empowered by faith! He designed us to have trust and confidence in Him and His promises. Then we can give praise to God and trust His plan for each of us.

IF YOU HAVEN’T ACCEPTED JESUS YET: How Do I Get Saved? Salvation is a gift from God, and comes through believing in Jesus and Jesus alone. In John 14:6, the Bible tells us very clearly that Christ is the only way to God and eternal life, and in Romans 10:9–11, the Bible tells us how to be saved and have eternal life: Believe in our hearts that Jesus died for our sins and was raised from the grave, and confess with our mouths that He is our Lord and Savior. John 14:6 states: Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. (KJV) Romans 10:9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. Romans 10:10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. Romans 10:11 For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed. To accept Jesus Christ into your life and be saved, please say this prayer of salvation. “Heavenly Father, thank You for Your love for me and for sending Jesus Christ to die on the cross for all my sins. His precious blood washes me clean. You raised Him from the dead. He’s alive today and I thank You that all my sins are forgiven. I’m made righteous by Jesus’ blood. God’s favor is upon me and I thank you Father that surely goodness and mercy will follow me all the days of my life from this day forth. In Jesus’ name, Amen.” |
